FAQ

Questions We Get at the Counter

Straight answers about overheating, radiators, transmissions and how we quote work. If yours isn't here, call (619) 283-7423.

My temperature gauge is climbing. Can I drive to the shop?

If the gauge is in the red or you see steam, stop and shut it off - driving an overheating engine turns a radiator job into a head gasket job. Call us at (619) 283-7423 and we'll tell you whether the car can be limped in cold or should be towed.

Do I need a new radiator or can it be repaired?

It depends on where it's failing. Plastic end tanks and cracked necks usually mean replacement on modern cars, while a leaking hose, cracked overflow tank, bad cap or a failed fan is a much smaller repair. We pressure-test first and tell you which one you're dealing with before quoting anything.

Why does my transmission problem involve the radiator?

Most automatics route their fluid through a cooler built into the radiator. If that circuit plugs up or the radiator fails internally, transmission fluid runs hot and the transmission starts slipping or shifting harshly. That's why we test the cooling system as part of any transmission complaint.

Do you give estimates before starting work?

Always. You get the diagnosis, the price and the reason before anything is taken apart beyond what diagnosis requires. If we find something else once we're in there, work stops until you approve it.

Are you open on weekends?

No. We're open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and closed Saturday and Sunday. Friday afternoon drop-offs for Monday work are fine - just call ahead.

Do you work on my make and model?

We service the domestic, Japanese and Korean cars, trucks and vans that make up most of what drives on El Cajon Blvd. For unusual European models or heavy-duty equipment, call first and we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right shop.

Do you offer a warranty on repairs?

Yes, parts and labor are warranted. [Placeholder: exact warranty term to be published here once confirmed by the owner - we won't post a duration we haven't verified.]

Do you have reviews I can read?

Yes - on our Google Business Profile. We don't reprint testimonials on this site unless they're verified, so please read them at the source.

Still got a question? Ask a human.

Talk to the family that runs the shop - not a call center. We answer the phone at (619) 283-7423 Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
